Things are going smoothly! Work is getting done and it’s terribly exciting. We might even get this game finished.

OH MAN
Oh my god those are some sexy shirts! This doesn’t mean we’re selling merch now; actually, these are four hand-printed shirts that I will be sending to a few select lazy assholes to make them feel guilty. More might be printed eventually and you might even be able to buy them. I’m also considering a system in which people mail me their shirts and have them returned printed with graphics of their choice.
okay bye

I’ve got to update more often maybe. I don’t know. Have some pictures.

The mind control drone in UDK.

A high-poly version of the mind control drone.
This is a little robot you’ll be able to use in the Wonderful Hat game. Its small size allows you to explore spaces you otherwise wouldn’t be able to. It can also hop onto enemies and give you remote control of them for a while. It does a few other very interesting things we can’t yet tell you about, but all of its abilities put together make it an excellent infiltration tool.
I made a high poly version beforehand. I’m not sure why I did, but it ended up being pretty useful for creating the in-game version, and took surprisingly little time (at least compared to the in-game model).

And now for actual news! Hat game stuff is happening. Prototyping will start soon. You’ve got new screenshots, concept art and music to look forward to. It’s all very exciting.
Okay, bye

I have no idea why it took this long, but here you go. The prototype is now free for you to download.
Before you can play this, you’ll have to install Java. The game should work on windows, linux, and macs. Run Box Riders.jar to play. Don’t expect any support for the prototype — we do not intend to fix any bugs. Feel free to tell us what you think, though.
In other news, Matt finally got a girlfriend, which means he can’t program for some reason. In addition to protoype-related comments, please post relevant hate mail.

When was the deadline for the prototype’s release? 6-7 months ago? Christ I’m bad at keeping promises.
I sincerely apologize. Every day since the deadline’s passing, the knowledge that I have failed my handful of loyal fans has been tormenting me with torment. The failure and torment ends now! several days from now maybe.
I didn’t just make this site to atone for the genocide of hopes and dreams I have comitted against Jiggawatt’s fans, though. The Box Riders prototype was just the beginning. We’re making a bigger, better game that will play very differently from the version soon to be available to you. As our work on the game progresses, we’ll be revealing the various changes and additions to Box Riders’ gameplay. We might also tell you more about the highly secret wonderful hat game.
I keep saying “we.” By “we” I mean the excellent team I have assembled. Go look at the about page to find out who they are. I’d love some feedback on the site, too. If you see anything that looks like a bug, let me know and I’ll do my best to fix it right away.
